JOB SUMMARY:
The Journey Church Student Ministry is committed to reaching students who are far from God and leading them to become fully devoted followers of Christ. This is accomplished by teaching truth through God’s Word, being culturally relevant, and leading staff and volunteers to develop relationships with students through weekly Student Night services, serving opportunities, and life groups. The student pastor is the individual responsible for leading a team to accomplish this mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an active and growing relationship with God that is revealed in your character and daily life.
High School Diploma or above (College degree preferred and Seminary training a plus).
Knowledge of student ministry with at least two years of experience.
Proven ability to effectively communicate God’s Word in a way that is engaging and applicable to students.
A strong work ethic that leads to sweating the details and finishing well.
Able to clearly convey a compelling vision and build effective ministry teams.
Experience in developing and motivating adults and students to become leaders.
A proven track record in growing a team and inspiring them to achieve a common goal.
Great at communicating and relating to others, especially young people and their parents.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Responsible for the primary oversight and leadership of the student ministry for 7th – 12th grades.
Identify, train, and inspire adult volunteers and student leaders.
Develop and evaluate communication plans to keep students, leaders, and parents informed.
Create and effectively manage the student ministry budget.
Plan, coordinate, and lead the mid-week worship service, including technical components and a live band.
Create an environment that is energetic, engaging, and life-changing.
Lead in the development and oversight of student life groups.
Plan and coordinate events for Journey Church students, ensuring that ample notice and
promotion are given before each event.
Engage parents and families to provide tools to assist in their spiritual leadership.
Partner with the Connection Pastor to develop a plan for moving students into an area of service here at Journey Church.
Keep current on the issues related to safety and security, to include conducting background checks on all
volunteers.
Seek opportunities for professional development, personal development, and spiritual growth.
Partner with the Family Pastor to lead a seamless transition for pre-teens entering the student ministry.
Partner with the Journey Young Adult Pastor to lead a seamless transition for students transitioning to the young
adult ministry.
Tithe consistently to Journey Church.
Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
