+ Purpose Statement
The Student & Missions Pastor is responsible for leading the church to develop a comprehensive student ministry, including oversight of missions for youth and adults. This will be done in consultation with other staff members and church program organizations concerning activities, policies and procedures that relate to their areas of responsibility. The position will be governed by the personnel policies as set forth in the bylaws of the church dealing with ministerial staff. This person will need to reflect doctrinal positions consistent with the latest confessional statement of the Baptist Faith and Message.

+ General Responsibilities
Design, coordinate and oversee a comprehensive youth ministry focused on building young disciples for Christ. Areas of focus include worship, spiritual disciplines to deepen discipleship, and group building.
Responsible for church wide mission endeavors, local and abroad.
Be an engaging spiritual leader and role model with a strong biblical and theological background.
Primary staff liaison to the student scholarship committee.
Will directly report to and be supervised by the Senior Pastor and Education/Administration Pastor

+ Youth Ministry Expectations
Develop a comprehensive, intentional life-on-life discipleship approach to deepen students’ relationship with Christ, teaching them the spiritual disciplines needed for continuing spiritual growth.
Recruit and collaborate with student small group leaders (Sunday School) to ensure they have all the resources and training they need to lead and disciple their small groups.
Lead the Sunday School opening and gathering time for students with announcements and important communication.
Host periodical planning/training sessions with small group leaders to build and increase leadership effectiveness among adult volunteers.
Encourage and assist Sunday School teachers to host activities and events for each class for relationship building purposes, beyond the Bible teacher role.
Teach/lead students in a Bible study each week, communicating regular themes and outlines to the pastors, staff, and small group leaders.
Recognize that middle-school students within the youth group may require unique and focused ministry, and plan/arrange leadership as needed.
Lead, organize, and conduct all required activities involved in Wednesday night student worship in conjunction with the student worship leader – songs, video, scripture readings, etc. Plan and organize opportunities for student engagement. Includes but not limited to:
Games and recreation
Organize and delegate for food and drinks for the youth each week.
Welcome, register, and help connect visitors and members to worship opportunities each week.
Recruit, train and engage adults to serve in various behind-the-scenes roles in the Wednesday student gathering.
Develop a strong small group teaching/discussion approach as part of the Wednesday night ministry.

+ Mission Leadership
Primary Staff liaison for missions’ strategy of the church.
Plan youth mission experiences, local and abroad, offering church-wide involvement. Assist mission teams or committees.

+ Qualifications and Requirements
Practicing personal spiritual disciplines for continued growth in Christ. Possess good interpersonal skills.
Provide leadership training with volunteers.
Contribute as a team player in all staff meetings.
Effective communicator, including ability to prepare and deliver presentations. Have necessary organizational and computer skills.

+ Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, M.A. or M. Div. is preferred, but not required. In the event that the bachelor’s degree is not in a related field such as Theology, Religion or Counseling, the Master’s from seminary would be required.

+ Communication and Planning
Send an email/text to parents, communicating weekly happenings in the student ministry with information about upcoming events and programs.
Work with staff and appropriate student leadership teams to develop and plan upcoming ministry events on the church calendar. Prepare annual calendar and effectively utilize a quarterly calendar.
Be supportive of school and community opportunities where the youth are involved, including FCA, sports, clubs, the arts, etc.
