Meet Bethel Baptist Church
Bethel has a rich legacy of gospel impact in St. Clair County, Alabama. On December 30, 1832, Bethel Baptist Church conducted its first worship service with twenty-nine persons present. From the very beginning, this local congregation recognized that all people, races, and backgrounds should worship together for the glory of God. As an established and growing church of 400 weekly worshipers, Bethel has thriving kids and student ministries with 40% of all worshipers under the age of eighteen on an average Sunday. Most importantly, Bethel Baptist has a deep desire to make an eternal impact in St. Clair County and the nations with mission partnerships in New Hampshire, Dominican Republic, Zambia, and Bulgaria with the goal of sending and equipping students to go to the nations.
What it’s like to serve at Bethel
Bethel is led by its pastors, served by deacons, and affirmed by its congregation. As a pastor at Bethel, you will preach regularly as part of the preaching team, go on domestic and international mission trips annually, and function as a vital part of our core leadership team. As a student pastor, you will continue the dynamic partnerships already in the community at Moody High School, St. Clair High School, and other surrounding schools. But, most importantly, you will serve Christ with the help of a strong pastoral and leadership team by your side for the glory of the Lord.
What it’s like to live in St. Clair County
In recent years, St. Clair County has been one of the fastest-growing counties in Alabama. Located 15 miles outside Birmingham, Ala., with interstate access via I-20 and I-59, St Clair’s population growth combines low taxes, affordable housing, good schools, and family entertainment while maintaining small-town charm. In the shadow of Birmingham, St. Clair residents have access to world-class health care. The region also showcases its history with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and is the cultural epicenter of Alabama with spectacular museums, theatres, concert venues, and numerous festivals and events.
The heartbeat of the church is to bring the whole Gospel to the whole person and the whole world. We strongly believe that student ministry is an extension of this mission as we live out the Gospel. Above all, we are looking for a person with a pastor’s heart who loves the community and is a strong team builder.
