Minister to Students

Stone Ridge Baptist Chruch

Principal Function: A servant-leader responsible to the pastor for planning, oversight and evaluation of the student and college ministries of the church.

Qualifications: Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who demonstrates by their lifestyle a commitment to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Must be like minded in theology and share the beliefs upheld by Stone Ridge Baptist Church. Must be a team player who is flexible, able to lead and coordinate ministries, overseeing volunteers. Must be called by God to serve, possessing a love for God and His people, especially students, as well as the spiritual gifts to perform the various responsibilities. Must have adequate training, or be pursuing training, and have a desire for continued education in related field. Must have a bachelor’s degree and have obtained or willing to pursue a seminary degree. Must have practical ministry experience in related field. 

Student/College Ministry Responsibilities: Spend time in prayer for the students and student ministry team members of the church. Responsible for directing and shepherding the student ministries, grade 7 – college. Responsible for ministering to students and young adults by planning and executing weekly worship gathering, including corporate worship, prayer, and a Scripture-centered lesson. Attend extra-church student activities and events (sports, plays, awards days, etc.). Plan, organize, and oversee monthly events for students. Plan, organize, and oversee periodic ministry/outreach events for students. Lead students’ Sunday morning and Sunday night groups and developing leaders to do so. Responsible for developing a network of supporters and volunteers, coordinating idea development and planning efforts, and coordinating student ministry events (i.e., youth conferences, outreach events, retreats, mentoring, etc.). Provide leadership to the Student Ministry and College Ministry Teams, equipping and enabling them to participate in their various ministries. Provide opportunities for youth and college students to grow spiritually and to develop a Christian worldview (i.e., local and global mission opportunities, etc.). Strategize and implement creative and effective ways to reach students for Christ (i.e., area middle schools, high schools, and C.A.C.C.). Organize and oversee ministries reaching the students at CACC. Assist local college students with connection to a local church both in Alex City and if/when transferring to a new location. Provide personal counseling for students, and their parents, as requested. Provide ongoing ministry to parents of students for appropriate circumstances and life stages. Perform administrative tasks related to the student ministries. Organize and oversee annual summer mission trip/camp for high school/college students and young adults. Organize and oversee annual D-Now weekend (Collective Weekend, etc.). Work with local student pastors to organize and oversee annual student ministry events (Collective, etc.). Assist high school seniors with plans to find and remain connected to a local church upon graduation. Plan and execute graduate recognition event each May. Assist staff in presenting discipleship/education conferences for congregation. Oversee the student and college ministry budgets, authorizing all disbursements. Assist other staff members with planning & execution of church-wide events. Meet with the pastor and church staff once a week for planning and coordinating church schedules. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the pastor, including hospital visitation. Attend, as possible, training events sponsored by the Alabama State Board of Missions and other ministries.
