Minister of Youth (Grades 7-12) Job Description
Job Summary
The primary purpose of the youth minister is to provide leadership and oversight of Emmanuel Baptist Church’s Youth Ministry; leading youth to begin a relationship with Jesus, discipling them in their spiritual growth, and teaching them to serve God and others with their lives.
The youth minister is supervised by the Pastor and coordinates all youth ministries with the youth committee.
Qualifications and Position Requirements
• Bi-vocational, Part Time Position not to exceed 20 hours per week.
• The youth minister will have a passion for Jesus that is contagious.
• Should be an approachable and outgoing Christian.
• Must exhibit a personal relationship with God
• Have a teachable spirit
• Must have a healthy family life
• Display of continuous spiritual growth.
• Must be capable of creating and executing a long-term vision for EBC’s youth ministry.
• Good written and communication skills, Conflict management skills and computer skills
• Open, honest and friendly nature
• Enthusiastic and energetic
• Sufficient skills and experience to relate Bible teachings and applications to real life questions and situations that apply to youth and their families in an increasingly challenging culture.
• Shall demonstrate the ability to meaningfully interact and communicate with youth and their families to build lasting relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship and ministry and mission opportunities.
• Being an advocate for the young people’s participation in the mission of the church.
• Building healthy relationships with the youth and fostering healthy relationships between the teens.
• Plan and coordinate activities for the youth on Sunday and Wednesday evenings year-round.
• Maintain contact with youth, parents and the church office, keeping everyone informed of ongoing activities and planned events.
• Coordinate and participate in all youth activities including but not limited to missions, camps, youth Sunday, and youth fundraisers.
• Be available to encourage, challenge and counsel the youth towards effective lives as followers of Jesus
• Be available to attendance at extracurricular activities, home visitations and support during times of crisis, as schedule permits.
• Review and assist in preparation of the Youth Budget and submit any additional recommendations to the finance committee for consideration prior to each Budget year.
• In coordination with the youth committee, present updates and goals for each year and pre-schedule and plan all youth activities in a timely manner.
Accountability
• Meet with Pastor minimum of monthly.
• Meet with youth committee minimum of quarterly.
Education, Certifications, and other Requirements
• Background check
• A ministerial degree and youth ministry experience is highly desirable
• First Aide/CPR training is highly desirable
Qualifications
• Adhere to theology and values in harmony with Emmanuel Baptist Church’s Mission and values as well as statements of belief as stated in the bi-laws.
