Thanks to all Alabama Baptists who support Baptist Campus Ministries at UAB by faithful giving through the Cooperative Program and by personal involvement through local churches and associations. Your generosity is being used by God to impact students’ lives. Please continue to pray for us as we prepare for the upcoming year. –Bill Morrison

ROTC Prayer Breakfast

40 cadets attended the second annual ROTC Prayer Breakfast at our student center. 13 members of the Freshman Ministry Team arrived at 5:00 a.m. to prepare eggs, grits, biscuits, bacon, sausage, and pancakes to serve the cadets following their morning Physical Training.

Vocational Ministry Round Table

Four students called to vocational ministry participated in the inaugural meeting of the Vocational Ministry Round Table. Dr. Gary Fenton, senior pastor at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, was the invited guest to share from his 35+ years of experience in pastoral ministry. The hour and a half conversation took place at a local restaurant. It was a huge benefit for the students as they gleaned wisdom and insight from someone who has firsthand experience in churches of different sizes and settings. We will repeat this on a monthly basis during the coming year.

Spring Break Mission Trip

Forty-six students participated in our annual Spring Break Mission Trip. We returned to New York to build on the work we did two years ago. It is encouraging to see how God has continued to work through the NAMB missionaries. We assisted three churches with distributing invitations to attend Easter services, as well as help with some needed deep cleaning of the facilities. We also helped lay a foundation for collegiate ministry at Stony Brook University and Hofstra University through outreach efforts. Next year we will be going to Miami, Florida to assist in a church plant with a NAMB missionary.

Saying Goodbye

Each spring we say goodbye to seniors who have been vital to the ministry at UAB. The outgoing group of students had a part in over 70 professions of faith, countless conversations about Jesus with classmates and peers, mission efforts in Dalhart, Texas; Long Island, New York; Gulf Shores; and Long Island, New York (part 2). In addition, many of these seniors provided leadership to our weekly LifeGroups and worship meetings which influenced hundreds of students in strengthening their spiritual life. We wish them the best and thank you for fulfilling your calling with excellence!
