This Sunday is set aside to address the problems of racial prejudice and injustice. While some progress has been made, the alarming rise in racial tensions in America and elsewhere in the world points to the need for improved race relations on a global scale.
This Sunday is designated Substance Abuse Prevention Sunday. The purpose of this emphasis is to focus on problems caused by alcohol and other drugs and to offer biblically-based approaches to prevention and cure.
The erosion of religious liberty and misapplications of the separation of church and state cause Southern Baptists to focus on religious liberty on the Sunday before July 4. This emphasis also calls Christians to active involvement in the life and government of their community, state and nation.
