Primary Objective:
To provide leadership, vision, and direction to the worship ministries of Calvary Baptist Church in alignment with the church’s overall mission and vision. The Worship Pastor/Director works closely with the Senior Pastor on worship service programming. The Worship Pastor/Director is a direct report to the Executive Pastor.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all contemporary worship services
- Build and shepherd a vibrant worship team by recruiting and training volunteer worship leaders and musicians, fostering their spiritual growth through discipleship and modeling a Christ-centered life, and providing care and support for team members and their families.
- Cultivate a worship ministry that actively involves and incorporates input from the congregation, developing a pipeline of worship leadership through comprehensive recruitment, training, deployment, and evaluation processes.
- Lead in the preparation and execution of appropriate seasonal and special worship events. This includes combined services with the choir and traditional worship team.
- Provide leadership to the college worship teams––this includes recruiting, developing, scheduling and resourcing students for Wednesday college gatherings (The Well).
- Work closely with age-group pastors to provide age appropriate worship experiences and music education opportunities as requested.
- Develop an annual worship/music budget that is guided by Calvary’s mission and values.
- Attend weekly worship planning meetings for evaluation of the previous week of worship and planning of the upcoming week of worship.
- Ensure detailed and advanced scheduling of volunteers utilizing Planning Center Online and other applications as needed and necessary.
- Maintain and develop Worship Handbook for volunteers, which lays out standards, casts vision, and offers info for worship volunteers and philosophy of worship.
- In coordination with the Production Director, maintain organized practice and storage areas for worship equipment/spaces, and oversee all technical aspects of worship services and events (audio, video, lighting, lyrics, announcements, etc.), providing regular training to ensure excellence in production and technical ministries.
- Participate in hospital visitation, as requested, and on-call weekends on a rotating basis.

Essential Traits & Qualifications:
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to servant leadership.
- Proven leadership experience within a local church, including working on a team and developing other teams of musicians in multiple worship environments.
- Strong vocal ability is required.
- Proven proficiency in music theory, vocal leadership, and instruments including guitar and/or piano.
- Effective interpersonal and relational skills. Humble and relatable to church members of all ages.
- Ability to articulate a Christ-centered theology of worship and congregational singing
- Bachelor’s degree required
