Minister of Music – Worship Pastor

Spring Hill Baptist Church exists to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

The Music Minister will lead, develop, promote, and implement disciple-making through all the music ministries of the church.

Position Description:  Oversee, develop, coordinate, and administrate the worship and music ministries of the church.

Key Responsibilities:
1.      Assist the Senior Pastor in staffing, organizing, and directing all church worship services.
2.      Direct weekly choir and orchestra (when applicable), including rehearsals.
3.      Oversee adult, student, and children choirs through recruitment, rehearsals, musical training, and spiritual nurture.
4.      Supervise, coordinate, and schedule all vocalists and musical groups.
5.      Coordinate the use, implementation and maintenance of sound, lighting, and worship related equipment, and instruments.
6.      Select and purchase all needed music, equipment, and instruments, as well as all related resources in the music and worship department.
7.      Prepare, present, and implement all budgetary matters related to this ministry (with administrative assistance).
8.      Attend weekly staff meetings for prayer, encouragement, calendar planning, ministry implementation and evaluation.
9.      Work with the appropriate committees and staff members to carry out the worship/music ministry and the overall mission of the church.
10.  Implement logistical details and provide support and expertise for programs such as “ This Is Christmas,” Spring Hill Singers choir and tour, and other special efforts that involve music.
11.  Participate in regular pastoral duties as needed (pastoral care, funerals, etc.) and church life more generally as a member in good standing.
12.  Cooperate with Senior Pastor for other assigned, additional duties.

Qualifications:
1.      Clear Christian testimony, evidence of saving faith, a vibrant walk with the Lord, and commitment to the local church.
2.      Passion to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
3.      Evident Pastoral calling, delight in working with people, and ability to minister effectively through a Spirit-led music program.
4.      Competence in Christian theology and affirmation of the Baptist Faith and Message.
5.      Adherence to the character descriptions outlined for church leadership in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and outlined in the policy prescriptions for employment as a minister at SHBC.
6.      Ability to fit within the current staff culture, church fellowship, and vision for ministry.
7.      Bachelor’s degree in music required. Masters-level education in a music-related field or comparable seminary degree is preferred.
8.      5+ years of experience in music ministry.
9.      Comfortable and capable of ministering in both a traditional and contemporary musical context.
10.  Must pass identity and criminal record checks.
