Job Overview
Maplesville Baptist Church is seeking a bi-vocational pastor to lead our congregation. As a church, we are focused on teaching and preaching the Word in a systematic exegetical process. We love our community and seek to be involved whenever possible.
We understand that by hiring a bi-vocational pastor, he would have a secondary income that will supplement his pastoral income while fulfilling the responsibilities as pastor of our church. As a church, we will be understanding of the schedule and duties of his other job. We pray that God will grow our church to be able to support a full-time pastor. Still, we are dedicated to supporting the unique requirements of a bi-vocational pastor.
Job Description
Duties:
• Maintain a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through daily Bible Study and Prayer
• Preach Sunday morning worship service and a weeknight Bible study
• Prepare and lead the Sunday morning service
• Prepare members for Christian living and church leadership by teaching and preaching from the Scriptures
• Attend to the congregation’s pastoral needs, including (as necessary and available) visitation, prayer, and counseling
• Perform wedding ceremonies according to the Biblical definition of marriage between one man and one woman
• Lead funerals, baptisms, and baby dedications
• Serve on the Deaconate Board
• Be active in the Maplesville and Chilton County community
Qualifications:
• Prior pastoral experience preferred
• A seminary degree is not required, but some form of formal training is preferred
• Must meet the biblical qualifications for an elder (1Timothy 3; Titus 1; Peter 3: 1-4)
• Is a man who can rightly divide the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15) and apply a biblical world view to the events and situations we face in daily life
• Believes in the inherency of the whole Word of God
• Teaches and preaches both exegetically and topically
• Born again and have a personal testimony of his conversion and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
• Aligned with our church’s doctrinal statement
• He is committed to integrity and accountability to those he serves
