Hello there folks. I’m Craig Carlisle. I’m the Associational Missions Strategist for the Etowah Baptist Association. In 1964 I was presented this little New Testament as a four-year-old, and part of the challenge of receiving this Bible was to memorize scripture. During these days, there have been three scriptures that I memorized as a child that have come back to me.
First of all, Psalm 119:11, that says, thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against God. I don’t about you, but I’ve had a tendency to sin in the areas of fear and worry over these days that we’ve been facing recently. But that verse was nestled away in my heart, and God brought it back to mine today that I have His word to give me comfort through this time.
Another verse that was very meaningful to me during that time was Psalm 56 in verse three. When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In these days, that’s what we are challenged to do. It’s real hard to try to fix things and figure things out on our own, but goodness gracious, we need the help of the Lord today. So if you are afraid, put your trust in Him.
A third verse that has meant a lot to me is Psalm 122:1, where the psalmist said, I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. I long for those days. I can’t wait for our pastors and churches to be able to give the Clarion Call to come back to church, and I know you do too. Be encouraged today. Let the word of God bring you comfort. Hide it in your heart. When you’re afraid, put your trust in Him, and look forward to the day when we can gather together again.
