Rob Jackson is the new director of evangelism and church revitalization for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. The announcement was made during the SBOM trustees’ Feb. 9 meeting in Prattville.
Jackson, who served as an associate in the office of evangelism under then office director Sammy Gilbreath from 1999 to 2003 before returning to the pastorate, has been serving as director of church health for SBOM since 2021.
The SBOM trustees also approved a staff restructuring that includes combining the work of evangelism and church revitalization under one director. Daniel Wilson, the new pastor of First Baptist Church Jemison, previously served as director of evangelism and retired state missionary Gilbreath before him.
SBOM executive director Rick Lance told The Alabama Baptist, “Rob Jackson is eminently qualified to lead us in the areas of evangelism and church revitalization. His pastoral experience is solid. His walk with God is exemplary. His experience with the State Board of Missions is noteworthy.
“I am pleased that Rob has consented to expand his ministry through the SBOM to include leadership in evangelism,” he said. “He has already been well accepted by Alabama Baptists. I believe this will be even more enhanced in the future.”
