Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to grow in your relationship with God. Embrace, demonstrate and promote the Mission of FBC Decatur: Reach People and Make Disciples. Requires BS/BA with experience within a church music program. Post-graduate work from an accredited seminary or university music program a plus. Possess positive interpersonal skills, set example as a servant leader, be an effective communicator, demonstrate solid work ethic and team player. Principal Responsibility:
Seek EXCELLENCE while leading a comprehensive ministry of music and worship to include congregation, choir, special music presentations and orchestra.
Expectations of the Position:
In collaboration with the Pastor, leads planning of congregational services, responsible for relevant music selections and enthusiastic congregational singing in accordance with the message and desired tone of worship service. Choir/Orchestra/Worship Teams:
Joyfully serves as the leader, encourager, and shepherd of the choir/orchestra and worship teams. Advance plan and lead consistent, yet flexible rehearsal schedules to maximize participation of choir, orchestra and worship team members. Recruits and coaches vocalists and instrumentalists from the church family (high school-Sr. Adult) to participate as soloists, within groups/ensembles, and/or choir. Plans and promotes seasonal/periodic musical presentations for church and community.
School of Fine Arts:
Cast the vision, lead the Director and Advisory Team, offer feedback, and enthusiastically support this ministry. Work with music leadership team to offer students opportunities for inclusion in worship services.
Audio/Visual Team:
Build relationships with congregational and staff A/V ministry team. Nature of position will require staying abreast of trends within music ministry.
Relationships:
Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and reports to the Pastor. Provides leadership to the Pianist, Director of School of Fine Arts, A/V Director and administrative support. Staff liaison to church committees and ministry teams as assigned.
Promote positive relationships within and represent the staff to Church in a professional manner. Available to develop and support other church activities and ministries of FBC. Provide assistance and support for member weddings and funerals, as required, and participate in pastoral care for persons involved in music ministry.
