About our worship and music
It is our practice and continued desire to emphasize worship more than music. We believe that when the focus is correctly placed upon worshipping God, there is unity, focus, and joy in singing, no matter the genre of music.
EPBC’s worship includes hymns, praise, and worship choruses, both old and new, as well as songs one would hear today on Christian radio. Music is supported by experienced worship musicians, including a pianist, keyboardist, drummer, guitar players, and occasionally a few woodwind and brass players.
The worship experience is not performance/stage-centric or driven. Our goal through words and music is to exalt the Lord.
“Style” has never been an issue or problem because the focus has been on seeking the Lord and exalting Him through worship, not “what music we’re singing.” Sometimes, we are asked, “Where do you see yourselves going musically?” The better question is, “Where is the Lord leading us spiritually, in worship, as we grow as disciples?”
Music that supports the mission
We’re seeking a worship leader who will help us achieve our goal of building a fully devoted community of Christ followers through the worship experience and music.
The exact music and worship ministries that would need to be created by our worship leader would be a product of his creativity and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. A quick look at EPBC would give some distinct clues to those opportunities.
For example, we are incredibly blessed by highly talented students in our award-winning middle school and high school bands. It is exciting to think what our worship leader could do to incorporate the mission into a music program that involved these young people.
Our children’s programs are a proven path to reaching the entire family. Again, there is a great void now with children’s music, one we seek to fill.
Our worship and music opportunities will be vital to reaching people for the Lord in our communities. East Pointe has members of all ages and from all walks of life. We are a very welcoming family of faith.
A rich legacy of music
Our Christmas presentations, for example, have reached a large number with a resounding sound and a very involved but clear presentation of the gospel. It is not an exaggeration to say that an incredible leadership opportunity awaits the one the Lord calls to lead worship and music at EPBC, as our members have a ready heart to go to higher ground in music, worship, and reaching others.
The profile of our worship leader
We are looking for a music and worship leader who is in the presence of the Lord and can help us enter the presence of the Lord as well.
We’re looking for a worship leader whose heart is worship – whose heart is helping and loving others worship through his leadership – through words that he shares, scripture, and music.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a humble worship minister with a heart of compassion and love for hurting people who need the Lord’s joy.
While we know that the Lord deserves our personal best, we understand that only some are accomplished singers or musicians. However, they should still be welcome to participate in worship opportunities.
Further, we’re looking for someone who will meet us where we are musically and in worship as a family of faith and pray with us as we seek the Lord’s guidance in transforming us as disciples and leading us to even greater experiences with the Lord.
To achieve the leadership level our church is ready to embrace, our worship leader needs to be diverse and well-rounded in musical ability—from conducting an orchestra to fostering and leading praise and worship musicians, choirs, and singers to helping teach students and adults about music and worship. He should have excellent choral, vocal, and directing skills. He should be a terrific organizer, administrator, and people person.
Our worship leader should be able to create, develop, and guide the opportunities and avenues for our members of all ages. Further, we recognize that the worship pastor’s leadership on stage is only a fraction of the overall work. It is paramount that the worship leader work closely with the pastor, staff, and church leadership team.
East Pointe employs a wide range of presentation and music technology. Our worship leader should be skilled in using technology in worship, including sound, lighting, computers, worship presentation software, and video.
This opportunity calls for a self-directed individual willing to do much of the work and engage volunteers to assist.
