El Bethel Baptist Church in Chancellor, Alabama exists for the purpose of Loving God, Loving Others, and Serving the World. God continues to bless our Church with significant growth which has necessitated the need for a part-time Director of Children’s Ministries.
The ideal candidate must have a genuine love for children. He or She must desire to see children come to know Christ and subsequently lead a Christ-centered life. He or She must be able to work with and lead volunteers from varied backgrounds as well as a diverse group of children including those with special needs. We are seeking a candidate with experience teaching, mentoring, and leading children in their Christian walk.
The Director of Children’s Ministries is expected to take the lead role and responsibility of ministering to the children of our church that are aged birth to seventh grade. He or She will act as co-staff member with the Senior Pastor and will share the responsibilities with the Senior Pastor for general watch care over all activities of the church.
The Director of Children’s Ministries will be responsible to the Church and the Senior Pastor, and will plan and conduct a Christ-centered, progressive children’s program which will include, but not be limited to the following:
1) Sharing the Gospel with lost children, their parents, and the community and equipping them to do the same.
2) Coordinating the training of children to serve as missionaries to their school campuses and, as allowed by law, minister on the school campuses within the sphere of influence of the church.
3) Networking with other evangelical children’s leaders in the community to support children in starting and strengthening school campus ministries and coordinating events designed to evangelize and disciple children.
4) Planning and supervising children’s retreats for spiritual enrichment.
5) Planning and coordinating Children’s Church, children’s events, camps, missions’ outreach, Vacation Bible School, and procuring assistance to carry them out.
6) Coordinating an overall children’s curriculum plan for the church, leading to properly sequenced, balanced, and comprehensive Christian education for children active in the children’s organization in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and other children’s leaders.
7) Acting as the children’s advocate before the church in business meetings, council meetings, etcetera.
8) Maintaining communications of plans with pastoral ministry. Coordinating all plans and activities with the Senior Pastor for discussion and approval.
9) Planning for and supervising the teaching of children during Sunday and Wednesday church services.
10) Planning and supervising monthly/weekly activities for outreach and spiritual enrichment of children.
11) Coordinating the creation of the annual children’s ministry budget proposal, and administering the budget as approved by the Budget Committee.
12) Sharing administrative work with the Senior Pastor, for the coordination of special events, activities, and other ministries as given.
The Director of Children’s Ministries shall be called by God to follow Christ in a life of discipleship, utilizing the leadership gifts given by the Holy Spirit to lead the church in carrying out the Great Commission for the purpose of expanding the Kingdom of God. The Director of Children’s Ministries will work under the direction of the Senior Pastor and will be a member of the church staff. As such his or her interest shall extend to all areas of the church. However, his or her primary interest shall be children.
