Spread the News this Christmas Season

News is everywhere, and there are all kinds of news to talk about in the daily scope of life.
College football playoff news is being discussed. Who is in? Who is out? Who has the best strength of schedule?

Political news is being discussed. For which candidate should we vote? Which policy is best? Who is telling the truth (or the most truth)?

Friends and family news is being viewed across social media platforms and discussed at coffee shops. Who is still in a relationship? Who is fighting? Who is not coming for Christmas?

With 24-hour news channels like ESPN, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News; social media feeds; and the Internet, people have the opportunity to receive and react to information and events faster than ever. People love to know and share news.

One such account exists in the Bible of a group of people receiving and sharing news. In the Gospel of Luke, the shepherds received some news — not just any news but some of the best news mankind has ever heard.

In Luke 2, angels appeared before the shepherds and proclaimed: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

The shepherds received this news and immediately reacted to what they heard. The shepherds raced to Bethlehem to see the Savior. After they saw Jesus, they told everyone what they knew about Him.
How are you receiving and reacting to the good news of Jesus Christ? What are you doing this Christmas season to spread the news that a Savior is born?

To make sure that you do not miss out on this prime time to spread the news, here are three things one can do to make sure they are spreading the news this season and beyond:

Pray for the Lost

Begin by praying for the lost. Sit down and make a list of people who might not know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Start with family, then move to friends, classmates, coworkers, etc.
Begin praying for the people on this list daily. The more one prays for the people on the list and their spiritual well-being, the more involved a person will want to become in that process. Allow the Lord’s guidance in what one should do, whether that be pray or take a more active role by sharing the Gospel.

Look for Opportunity

Opportunities exist all the time to share the Gospel. Most of the time these opportunities are in places one interacts every day.

For instance, a slow time in a restaurant is a wonderful opportunity to share with a waiter. Attending a family event with unsaved relatives, eating lunch with a friend or working out at the gym with workout partners are all great opportunities to talk about Jesus. Pray that the Lord will reveal these opportunities and present more opportunities to share one’s faith.

Be Prepared to Share

Be ready to share the Gospel when the opportunity presents itself. Not every opportunity is the same. Make sure to have different methods that one can use to share the Gospel.

Also, have a method that works if there is only a couple of minutes and a method to use if there is an hour. Every situation is different and will require a different method of sharing. Methods or lack thereof should not be a limitation to sharing the Gospel. When the Holy Spirit prompts, share the good news.

Christians have the best news to share. Be sure to share that news this Christmas and beyond. The more one shares the good news, the more likely they are to be leading a group that shares the good news.
