The vision for ALBaptistStaffing.org began a few years ago based on the need to help Alabama Baptist churches find great candidates for their open positions.
Alabama Baptist churches that want to cast a wider net can place public ads on the site for free. Emails are sent as new positions are posted to candidates who have subscribed to receive updates. Updates are also posted to the @alsbom Twitter account each morning.
Recently, Faye Brown, who served on the pastor search team for Ozark Baptist Church, shared her story about how ALBaptistStaffing.org helped her church to find their new pastor:
“We began our search for a senior pastor in March 2016. We spent the first week in concentrated prayer. Then we posted the position on ALBaptistStaffing.org and in the Alabama Baptist newspaper.
It took only a few days before we had received over 40 resumes. Before our search was over, we received over 50 resumes.
The hardest part was to determine which ones were qualified and which of those fit our needs as a church.
After narrowing it down to about 12, we began to go to their websites, look at their church programs and mission activities and listen to sermons. We finally chose three we wanted to interview personally.
Eric Fuller was one of those three. We immediately knew that he was the man God had for us. We made our decision in late July, and Eric began as our pastor the first week in October. It is as if he has always been with us.
Through (ALBaptistStaffing.org), God led us to just the right man for our church.”
ALBaptistStaffing.org is part of the strategy to help churches in their searches for candidates and is managed by the Office of LeaderCare & Church Health at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
State Missionary Mike Jackson, the office’s director, said, “This is a great story! We want everyone to know about this resource, a free one because of the gifts of Alabama Baptists through the Cooperative Program.”
In addition to placing ads on the site, candidates may also submit their resume to the online resume system. Churches may also call on Jackson to help their search committee begin the search process.
Resources on these options available to churches may be found at ALBaptistStaffing.org.
