9th Day of Christmas: Baptism

For Mom & Dad:
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead.”- Baptist Faith and Message, Part VII

Read Together:  Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-40; 16:30-33

Big Idea for Kids:  Baptism is a way for us to show the world that Jesus has made us new.  When we put our faith in Jesus we want to show the world who Jesus is.  Baptism helps us do that.  God wants us to be baptized when we trust Jesus.

Learning Question:  Who do you know that has been baptized?  Why were they baptized?  What does baptism help us do?

“To Do” Today:  Discuss with your child ways that we can let the world know what Jesus has done in our lives.  Take a moment and share with your child your baptism experience after you trusted Christ.  Tell them about where it was, what happened and why you wanted to be baptized.

Pray Together: Ask God to help us be obedient and to be faithful about telling the world about Jesus.  Pray for your Child that the Spirit would work in their lives and draw them to Jesus.
