Happy New Year!

As you begin 2016, we wanted to take a few moments to review some highlights from 2015. Each of the following blog posts were published at ALSBOM.org/blog and then shared via social media and email for Alabama Baptists. Check out which ones had the biggest impact in 2015.

5. What Does a Sunday School Director Do on Sunday Morning?

Dwight Moss, Christian education pastor at Decatur Baptist Church, shared his insights into what a Sunday School director should do on Sunday mornings. This blog post was part of a larger series that is focused on “Directing Sunday School with Skill.”

4. Why I Believe in the Cooperative Program – Britt Green

Britt Green, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Eclectic, shared about how the Cooperative Program has affected him and his ministry. This post is part of a series from “FOCUS on One Mission”: a State Board of Missions publication that appears as a supplement in The Alabama Baptist newspaper.

3. Church Planting Opportunities

Lamar Duke, lead church planting strategist for the State Board of Missions, spoke in this piece about the priority the SBOM has placed on church planting in 2015. He also talks about training opportunities available in 2016.

2. SBOM Trustees Vote to Recommend 2016 CP Budget

After the State Board of Missions meeting in August 2015, recommendations were made public that explained some budgeting changes to take place in 2016. These changes would work to increase the percentage of funds given by Alabama Baptist churches through the Cooperative Program to the Southern Baptist Convention.

1 . Football Player Finds Discipline, Discipleship through BCM at Jacksonville State

The Alabama Baptist newspaper originally published an article written by Jacksonville State University student and football player Tyler Swindle about his involvement with JSU’s Baptist Campus Ministry. This article was seen on Facebook by 11,200 people. It received 846 likes, comments and shares. Not only were the stats impressive, but the content that Tyler shared was inspiring as he openly talked about moving away from home, facing disappointments and praying for direction. He talked about the ministry of his local BCM and how his mission field has become his local university.

Check out each of these articles and the many more that we publish on a regular basis here at ALSBOM.org/Blog.
