Randy Burns attended Alabama Church Planting Basics at Shocco Springs in August of 2013 along with about 25 other church planter types. At the time, he was a church planting intern at Westmeade Baptist Church in Decatur, Ala.

As he left the training, he told Lamar Duke, lead church planting strategist for the State Board of Missions, that he was going to recruit six or eight others who would move with him from Decatur to Bennington, Vt., to plant a church. He further stated that he would bring them to a subsequent basic training that they would all go through together.

Duke said, “I must confess that I was more than a little skeptical about this possibility.”

However, in January of 2014 when the next training was held in Athens at the Limestone Baptist Association, to Duke’s amazement, Randy brought his wife and six others to participate, just as he had promised.

In the summer of 2014, this remarkable team moved to Vermont to plant Summit Church.  They are an incredible example of team building!
