Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a vibrant and growing congregation in the rural community on County Road 9 in Louisville, is seeking a dedicated and passionate leader to serve the LORD here. This individual will play a crucial role in our church by leading Wednesday night Bible studies for our teens (currently about 12 teenagers/college age), leading the music ministry/choir on Sunday mornings, and being a positive role model for our younger children. Most importantly, this leader should embody and be willing to share the love of Jesus with all members of our community.
The role involves developing and leading engaging Bible studies and activities for teenagers on Wednesday evenings. We seek someone who can foster a supportive environment where teens can grow in their faith, ask questions, and build strong relationships with one another. In addition, we ask to develop at least one outreach event per quarter.
On Sunday mornings, we desire leader that will lead our choir and lead our church in worship. Currently, our pianist leads in 2-3 hymns every Sunday, and our pastor, leads in 2-3 praise/worship songs on guitar. Collaborating with musicians and singers, this leader will create a worship experience that draws the congregation closer to God.
Serving as a spiritual mentor and positive example for the children of the church is another key aspect of this role. The candidate should be friendly to everyone during church services and activities, making them feel welcomed and valued within the church family.
Beyond these specific responsibilities, the ideal candidate will be an active and visible presence within the church and the broader community, participating in church events, outreach activities, and fostering relationships with church members of all ages.
We are looking for someone with a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out the Gospel in everyday life. A passion for working with teens and children is essential, along with a heart for guiding them in their spiritual journeys. Musical talent is also important (but not required), with proficiency in leading worship, whether through singing or playing an instrument, and the ability to blend traditional and contemporary styles. Leadership skills, approachability, and a caring and compassionate nature are all qualities that will help the candidate succeed in this role.
