Job Classification

Full time, salaried at 40 hours per week (exempt)

Principal Function:

Work closely with members and staff to support the vision of FBCO in developing and leading student programming to reach teenagers with the Gospel.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach in a large group setting on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights
  • Recruit, train, and value all levels of leadership within the Student Ministry including volunteers, parents, interns, and paid staff
  • Lead the Student Ministry staff and volunteers to formulate a discipleship strategy for students and families
  • Build relationships with students and families to help them connect to FBCO
  • Plan, lead, and execute events, camps, and mission trips
  • Fulfill certain pastoral care staff responsibilities including hospital visits, counseling, meetings, and other ministry opportunities
  • Develop and oversee a Student Ministry budget to effectively use church resources to maximize ministry opportunities
  • Lead the effort to reach unchurched teenagers and families with the Gospel
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Encourage and motivate students in a growing commitment and connection to the body of Christ and an expanding contribution to the mission of Christ. FBCO is a multi-generational church that wants to impact the world!

Qualifications

  • A growing, personal relationship with Jesus
  • Bachelor’s degree. (Seminary degree preferred, but not required)
  • 3-5 years of experience leading in a large church setting
  • Demonstrated ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form. Submission of a video link of the candidate teaching is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute retreats, camps, and mission trips accommodating large numbers of students and adult volunteers
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Must pass pre-employment comprehensive and sexual misconduct background check

Pastoral Duties:

  • Participate regularly in weekend worship programs at FBCO
  • Perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and counseling as necessary
  • Serve in outreach events and within other ministries as part of the FBCO pastoral team
