Student Minister

First Baptist Church of Decatur

Job Overview

FBC Decatur Overview
We are a multigenerational Southern Baptist church with a desire to Reach People and Make Disciples. We want those around us to know and love Jesus! That’s why everything we do points to Him.
Our church is in an extremely healthy position with momentum for amazing ministry ahead! We have a solid biblical foundation, an established staff and culture, average ~700 in corporate worship, have added 300+ new members in the past 3 years, baptized 80+ of those, and have the most loving church family you will find!

Decatur, AL Overview
Located on the Tennessee River in Morgan County, Decatur sits 25 minutes from Huntsville, an hour from Birmingham, and 90 minutes from Nashville. But Decatur itself has so much to offer on its own! There are plenty of outdoors opportunities within the city with excellent trails, fishing, golf courses, and parks throughout.
It is an ideal place to raise a family with plenty of established, family-friendly neighborhoods, quality educational opportunities, and fun family activities like the Cook Museum of Natural Science and Point Mallard Water Park.

Student Ministry Overview
Reaching the next generation is the heart beat of our student ministry. First Students provides Middle and High Schoolers with the opportunity to seek the Lord through various outlets that is centered around God’s word. We believe teenagers are are not only the future of our church, but they are the church! Our midweek service averages 75 students between Middle and High School. The purpose of this service is to reach and expose students from our community to biblical worship, biblical community, and ultimately the gospel. Our Sunday morning small groups seek to minister to students who are First Baptist members by gathering and studying God’s word in a more intimate and intentional setting.
In the past few years we’ve heavily invested into summer camp. Camp gives an opportunity for our students to grow closer to the Lord and closer to each other in an environment removed from the busyness of life over the course of a few days. Our camp experience is off campus and is available for grades 6th-12th.

We’ve also developed multiple ways for students to serve throughout the summer with a local Middle School mission trip as well as an opportunity for High Schoolers to serve in Puerto Rico with the North American Mission Board.
