Lakewood Baptist Church, is a Southern Baptist Convention member, located in Northport, Alabama. Near Lake Tuscaloosa, the community in which we minister is well established but also seeing a substantial amount of growth. Our church, like our community, has seen some changes over the years, and we are currently in another season of change. Through some recent trying days, our congregation has become more unified than ever and is very ready to welcome a new pastor and his family. We are seeking a servant leader that will come alongside us, help continue healing, and embark upon a growth opportunity blessed by God. Our congregation feels strongly that growth, with an emphasis on young families, children, and youth, is the call we are receiving.
The man we are seeking will be a born-again Christian that is strongly rooted in his Southern Baptist faith. He must be ordained. We are looking for a candidate that has formal ministry training from an accredited institution, or that is willing to pursue such training. Ideally, the candidate will have experience as a Senior Pastor, but this is not required.
The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
He will be a Pastor that shepherds his flock, teaching them, discipling them, equipping them for the ministry, and loving them. Loving the group as a whole but also understanding that each heart is special and has been blessed with unique talents.
He will have a God given vision of growth for the church and will work with all groups within the membership in the pursuit of that vision. Growth being: spiritual within the current membership; salvations within the lost in our community; and congregational with outreach to the underserved.
He will work with the local, state and national associations to further the mutual interests and support the work of the Southern Baptist mission and the Cooperative Program. Our church has a long history of missions, and it is our joy to watch what God is doing here and abroad.
He will work with the membership to develop future church leaders through encouragement and empowerment. And, he will utilize our strong senior adult group for wisdom and service opportunities.
He will have strong preaching and teaching skills, as well as administrative skills.
We believe that God has already chosen the man for this position. We are praying diligently that God will open our eyes and hearts to the man He has chosen and his family.
If you feel you are the person God has chosen to be our next pastor, please submit the following items, in PDF format, to firstname.lastname@example.org. (We will not accept mailed resumes.)
