Senior Pastor 

Bellevue Baptist Church

The Senior Pastor is responsible for leading the Church to function as a New Testament church.  The Senior Pastor will lead the congregation, the organizations, and the Church staff to perform their tasks.

The Senior Pastor is the leader of pastoral ministries in this Church.  As such, he works with the Church staff and the deacons to (1) lead the Church in performing its tasks, (2) lead the Church to engage in a fellowship of worship, witness, education, and ministry, (3) proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, and (4) care for the Church’s members and other persons in the community. 

The candidate must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed and ordained Baptist minister
  • Must have attended seminary and preferably also hold a college degree
  • Must have a solid understanding of Baptist Doctrine and Theology
  • Prefer at least 5 years of pastoral experience as a Senior Pastor
  • Must possess effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have church administrative and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate a record of community involvement and be mission-minded
  • Must be willing to support and participate in Local, State, and Southern Baptist National Conventions

The Senior Pastor is expected to work with church leadership on various activities of the church and lead worship services.  This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Preaching the gospel
  • Teaching
  • Visiting the sick and shut-ins
  • Performing marriages
  • Providing counseling
  • Conducting funerals
  • Representing the Church at meetings of the Association, State and National conventions
  • Attending church functions
  • Being available for community projects

The Pastor will be expected to work in conjunction with the Deacons, Trustees, and Church.   The Pastor will be responsible for ensuring an annual strategic plan is developed for the church, including the following six areas of focus:  Evangelism, worship, stewardship, Christian education, social services, and fellowship.  The Pastor will lead the congregation in personal and corporate evangelism.
