Title: Preteen Minister
Primary Supervisor: Minister of Education
Based at: First Baptist Church
Job purpose:
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of ministry to preteen children in 4th & 5th grade
Qualifications:
– Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close
consistent walk with Him
– Love for serving and leading elementary age children
– Experience overseeing a children’s ministry within a Southern Baptist church
– Degree from an accredited college or university
– Seminary degree or intent to pursue a seminary degree
– Confident verbal and written communication skills
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1) Vision-cast, design, lead and implement a vibrant preteen ministry which consistently
fosters gospel conversations with children
2) Oversee enlistment of teachers, choice of curriculum, and complete structure of Sunday
school for 4th and 5th
3) Design, lead and equip all Wednesday night planning for assigned age group
4) Co-lead and manage Children’s Worship; developing 4th & 5th grade and student leaders
5) Work with Middle School on transition from 5th grade to 6th grade
6) Plan, enlist, and lead Camp specifically designed for preteen
7) Partner with the Children’s Minister to participate in Children’s Ministry events & camps
8) Coordinate and plan preteen VBS schedule
9) Weekly Bible Study for preteen
10)Oversee all preteen 4th floor resources, hallway designs, and room inventory
11)Develop ways areas of service for 4th/5th Graders
12) Attend and contribute to Leadership Team, All Staff, and children’s ministry meetings as
assigned
13) Participate in assigned ministerial opportunities (hospital/on-call, pastoral care moments,
leading prayer time, and hosting worship services).
