Lafayette Heights Baptist Church

The Pastor of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church will provide spiritual leadership to the congregation through biblically sound preaching, discipleship, and godly character. The pastor will demonstrate a high level of competency and excellence in the study of the Scriptures, church leadership and organization, and equipping the church to be disciples. The Pastor for LHBC will be a man who is called, ordained, and set apart by God to the gospel ministry, is evangelical in theology, and is committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for Pastors.

Qualifications

• Has been converted and called to the pastoral ministry
• Has been licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Southern Baptist Churches
• Exhibits spiritual and personal integrity and maturity
• Possesses the ability and willingness to share Christ and disciple others
• Exhibits both motivational and relationship skills
• Communicates well through a pulpit ministry
• Has a proven love for the fellowship of a local church
• Desires to empathize with the deep concerns of the congregation

Responsibilities
• Proclaim the Word of God in a regular pulpit ministry
• Oversee any pastoral staff and provide direction for the church program
• Provide leadership and vision for the church in ministry and church growth (Pastor and deacons will work together to support the purposes of the church which are evangelism, discipleship, missions, service, and worship.)
• Motivate, equip and nurture the people of the church through example, preaching and teaching God’s Word, and spiritual counseling
• Oversee church discipline and help to manage conflict in the church all in an effort to promote church unity
• Work with various standing and special needs committees in accomplishing their respective duties
• Lead in the observance of the ordinances of the church
• Cooperate with local, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern, keep the church informed of denominational developments, and represent the church in denomination and civic matters
• Facilitate the contact/visitation of hospitalized or grieving church members
• Officiate at weddings and funerals as needed
• Moderate all business meetings of the church when possible
