Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (PGBC) is seeking a Next Generation Minister to lead our children, middle school, high school, student ministries. We are passionate to see the next generation embrace Jesus as their Savior and to follow Him as world-changing disciples.
The Next Gen Minister for Students shall be a Christian and must be an active church member. Upon selection for the position, membership in PGBC will be required. The Next Gen Minister for Students is a full time position and is responsible to the Senior Pastor for the development of a comprehensive program of education for students. He must consult with other staff members/committees/Deacons concerning activities, policies to coordinate the Next Gen ministry with other ministries of the church.
The Next Gen Minister will be a motivated, energetic, spiritually minded person of God, eager to build relationships with children and students and help cultivate a deep understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Experience is required in children/youth ministry leadership demonstrating the ability to build a team of parents and volunteers to create an exciting faith community that leads our next generation from where they are to where God wants them to be.
The ideal candidate for this position should be someone called by God into the Gospel Ministry and believe and adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. A degree from a reputable Bible College and/or Seminary is desired but not required.
The Next Gen Minister must be at least 25 years of age and satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
Responsibilities:
• Total program responsibility for Bible study, fellowship opportunities, summer camps, discipleship, and missions for children/student ministry. This includes but may not be limited to recruiting and training leadership, selecting curriculum, submitting budget requests, ordering materials, and staying informed about current student ministry trends.
• Planning of all events/ministries related to children/student ministry in coordination with other ministries of the church.
• Provide spiritual guidance and counsel to children/students and parents as needed and connect with outside Christian counselors where needed.
• Interface and develop relationships with students and their families to provided opportunities to meet the individual family’s distinctive needs.
• Assist the pastoral staff in visiting and shepherding parents of students.
• Lead in developing a strategy for growth in the children/student ministry.
• Lead in evangelistic outreach and to train children/students to share their faith.
• Lead on school campus activities for children/student team building and student recruitment, like attending games, competitions, recitals, events, etc.
• Interface and develop relationships with the school systems to promote Christian ministry and activities in the respective school systems.
• Supervise the social media presence/development for the PGBC children/student ministry to ensure the PGBC children/student web page is current and inviting for all.
• Properly maintain your personal walk with the Lord through Bible study, prayer and accountability.
• Oversee assigned committees within the organizational structure of the church.
• Integrate children/student ministries into the overall objectives of the pastor and church.
• Ensure a safe environment for students on campus and during off campus events.
