Minister to Children
Job Description
Purpose of Education and Children’s Ministry:
The Children’s Ministry exists to partner with parents in helping the next generation become disciples who love God passionately, grow in community, and live missionally.
Principal Function:
A servant-leader responsible to the pastor for serving the congregation by providing servant leadership to children’s ministry as outlined below.
Qualifications:
Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who demonstrates by their lifestyle a commitment to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Must be like minded in theology and share the beliefs upheld by Stone Ridge Baptist Church and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Must be a team player who is flexible, able to lead and coordinate ministries, and oversee volunteers.
Must be called by God to serve, possessing a love for God’s Word and His people, as well as the spiritual gifts to perform the various responsibilities.
Must have adequate training, or be pursuing training, and have a desire for continued education in related field.
Must have practical ministry experience in related field.
Responsibilities:
Spend time in prayer for the members and attendees of the congregation.
Provide oversight for the ministry to children and their families, including, but not limited to, encouraging volunteer staff, recruiting and training volunteer leaders, conducting regular meetings, planning, implementing, administrating, and publicizing.
Develop and oversee follow-up assignments.
Oversee curriculum research and development for children’s ministries.
Provide oversight of the ministry to children and their families which includes, but not limited to RKids LifeGroups, Trunk or Treat, Spring Fest, VBS, Kids Camp, Others First, and special events.
Develop, equip, and oversee all volunteer staff related to the children’s ministries.
Perform administrative tasks related to children’s ministry.
Oversee the children’s, children’s missions, VBS, and preschool ministries budgets, authorizing all disbursements.
Partner with Student Minister in providing parenting classes and conferences.
Meet with the pastor and church staff once a week for planning and quarterly with the church council for planning and coordinating church schedules.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the pastor, including hospital visitation, and document development.
Attend, as possible, training events sponsored by the Alabama State Board of Missions and other ministries.
