Job Description: Minister of Music and Media

Principal Function: The Minister of Music and Media is responsible to the Pastor for assisting the Church in planning, administering, conducting, promoting, and evaluating a comprehensive music and media ministry.

Responsibilities:

Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Music Ministry.

Coordinate the Church Music Ministry with the calendar and emphasis of the Church.

Work with the Church Staff in determining music ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances, and administration process for the music ministry.

Assist the Pastor in planning congregational services of the Church and be responsible for the selection of the music.

Make folders of music for musicians each week and ensure that the projection screens are in working order for each service.

Provide or line up maintenance and care for all projections and sound systems in the church.

Assist in the purchase of new sound, projection and lighting equipment when needed.

Assist in the purchase of new musical instruments for the church as needed.

Assist families with weddings and funerals to be held in the church. Arrange and provide music when requested. Arrange and provide music for special project ministries and other church-related activities. This is in cooperation with appropriate individuals or groups.

Direct music groups and congregational singing or arrange for someone else to do so.

Work in cooperation with appropriate persons, including the nominating committee, in selecting, enlisting, training and counseling song leaders, accompanists, musicians and other leaders of the church music ministry.

Supervise the work of all music leaders in the music ministry.

Supervise maintenance of, and additions to, the music library and equipment. Administer the acquisition and supply of musical materials, supplies, instrument and equipment for use in the church’s program(s).

Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotions. Administer and utilize where appropriate.

Coordinate the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals along with audiovisual volunteers.

Prepare an annual music ministry budget to be submitted to the finance committee.

Maintain church website and social media aspects of church ministry.

Take care of video portions of ministry. Making sure that the church service video is included on the church website.

Assist the Pastor and/or Associate Pastor in attending surgeries and making hospital and home ministry visits as needed.

Prepare slides for events of the church as needed.

Set annual goals that will be reviewed annually by the Pastor during their performance evaluation.
