Meet Mount Zion Baptist Church:
Mount Zion Baptist Church was founded in September 1855 as a rural church in a farming community west of Huntsville, Alabama. Over the years, Mount Zion has grown from a small country church to a large suburban church, located in one of the fastest-growing areas of Madison County in North Alabama and drawing people from a multitude of cultures, professions, and backgrounds.
Mount Zion is located on 12 acres of land with approximately 110,000 square feet of building space, including worship, education, recreation, fellowship, and administrative spaces. Recently, a beautiful Family Life Park was designed and built to accommodate the growing segment of young families attending the church.
Mount Zion offers two blended worship services at 8:30AM and 9:45AM and a contemporary worship service at 11:00AM. Mount Zion has a rich family environment where people of all ages engage in worship, Christian education, Discipleship groups, missions education (RA, GA, and Mission Friends), and fellowship opportunities. They have a thriving Children’s Ministry, Education Ministries, Student Ministry, and Senior Adult Ministry. Mount Zion is a theologically conservative Southern Baptist church, holding to the doctrinal beliefs contained in the Baptist Faith and Message of 2000.
About the Minister of Missions and Outreach:
The ideal candidate for the position of Minister of Missions and Outreach will have demonstrated experience and leadership skills in reaching the local community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He will help coordinate, mobilize, and lead Mount Zion Baptist Church in fulfilling the goal of evangelizing and making disciples.
The Minister of Missions and Outreach will also give overall direction to the missions ministries of the church and will provide oversight to the Christian Ministries Center as an effective tool for evangelism, fellowship, and ministry.
The Minister of Missions and Outreach Will:
Give overall direction to the missions ministries of the church.
Serve as a member of the pastoral ministry team, being active in visitation, evangelistic outreach, hospital ministry, and other activities reflective of pastoral care.
Lead in the design and implementation of the church’s missions strategy as an Acts 1:8 congregation, in partnership with the Missions Committee.
Serve as staff liaison with existing missions’ organizations in the church for support and encouragement.
Provide for the enlistment and training of short-term volunteers for participation in church-sponsored missions activities and ministries.
Integrate missions awareness and education into the overall life of the church.
Lead the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of a balanced and comprehensive ministry of activities utilizing the Christian Ministries Center.
Coordinate these ministries with the calendar and emphases of the church.
Be responsible for the enlistment and training of all volunteer personnel working in the CMC.
Work with the Personnel Committee in the hiring of paid workers for the CMC.
What You Bring:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or equivalent) from a four-year college or university; A graduate or seminary degree and a minimum of 5-7 years experience is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate appropriate theological, doctrinal, and organizational skills to perform at the highest level.
