JOB DESCRIPTION: Discipleship Pastor
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop and lead a comprehensive discipleship strategy that builds on the mission of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church. Our mission at GSBC is to make disciples that Worship God, Grow in Christ, and Follow Him.
REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports directly to the Executive Pastor but the staff works closely together with the Senior Pastor and church lay leadership.
Develop and lead GSBC in a gospel-centered discipleship strategy for all ages and stages.
Give oversight for a discipleship strategy in partnership with other staff ministers from the children’s ministry through senior adults, including approving, suggesting, or writing material.
Create a leadership development process to insure future leaders in all areas of discipleship.
Engage in healthy relationships with lay leaders and ensure they are well-resourced for disciple reproduction.
Oversee and develop effective leadership for Sunday School, Life groups, and D-groups.
Provide oversight of the budget for the discipleship ministry of the church.
Cultivate evangelism throughout the church family in all discipleship ministries.
Lead, develop, and regularly assess the first impression ministry.
Lead new members through the assimilation process by guiding guests through the new member class and connecting them to ministry and missions.
Effectively use the church management system to track potential disciples from their 1st visit to membership and engage them in multiplying discipleship.
Equip new believers with the tools to determine their spiritual gifting.
Create a systematic approach to engaging guests and new members with discipleship opportunities.
Regularly assess the church’s needs in the area of discipleship and provide training accordingly.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Previous church staff experience.
It is expected that the minister called to serve at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church will be an active participant in worship and the ministries of the church.
Be a team player with other ministers on staff as well as attend weekly staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive or Senior Pastor.
