The Candidate:
Redeemer Community Church is seeking a full-time Director of Redeemer Kids. The Director of Redeemer Kids is to lead a Children’s Ministry that is radically Christ-centered and theologically rich. This position will continue to form and facilitate a ministry program for children from the nursery through the fifth grade. We are looking for someone who loves children, has strong administrative skills and has a deep desire to disciple children and equip families to disciple their children at home.

Our Context:
Redeemer Community Church is a gospel-centered church that was planted in April of 2015. We are located in downtown Oneonta, Alabama. Oneonta is the county seat in Blount County; therefore, we draw people from Oneonta as well as the surrounding communities in the Greater Blount County area. Currently, our church averages 200 people in worship on Sundays between both of our morning services (8:30AM & 10AM) including an average of 40 children ages nursery through fifth grade.

Job Description:
– The Director of Redeemer Kids will be responsible for planning, preparing and overseeing the Redeemer Kids Ministry that meets twice a week (Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights)
– Utilize a Christ-centered curriculum on Sunday mornings to help teach children how to love and follow Jesus
– Utilize Wednesday nights (currently Awanas) to cultivate an atmosphere of fellowship, discipleship, Scripture memory and biblical teaching within the the Redeemer Kids ministry
– Seek to reach children and families from various social, economic, and racial backgrounds
– Support and follow the values and strategy of Redeemer Community Church
– Be contextualized within RCC’s church and local culture
– Attend weekly staff meetings
– Equip and train volunteers to serve in the Redeemer Kids Ministry by providing clear expectations and job descriptions as well as helpful resources (Ephesians 4:12)
– Lead a weekly team of volunteers to serve in various roles throughout the Redeemer Kids Ministry
– Ensure all volunteers have up to date background checks and have been trained via Ministry Safe to ensure we are protecting children and volunteers within the Redeemer Kids ministry according to RCC’s Ministry Safe policy
– Create a safe and nurturing place that allows children to experience Christ’s love and express their faith
– Partner with parents in the discipleship of their children especially through our Discipleship Pathway
– Build life-long, Christ-centered relationships
– The Director of Redeemer Kids and will function to disciple children in at least 3 ways: Spiritual formation, relationships, and outreach opportunities

Essential Qualifications
– Must be a follower of Jesus Christ with a clear profession of faith and ability to articulate the gospel and a lifestyle that demonstrates obedience to Christ and Christian fruit
– Demonstration of biblical theology and adherence to RCC’s Statement of Faith
– A warm love for others expressed in meaningful relationships
– Demonstrated experience and ability to lead in all areas of a children’s ministry, including: teaching, planning, budgeting, vision-casting, and development of ministry strategies
– Ability to recruit, lead, and develop Redeemer Kids ministry volunteers
– Willingness to submit to the authority, guidance, and leadership of the Lead Pastor and the Elders in all matters
– Ability to work collaboratively with the Lead Pastor and Elders, staff members, ministry leaders, and volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications
– Higher education
– Experience teaching children and/or leading a children’s ministry
– Strong administrative/organizational skills
