Purpose:
The Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for the development and implementation of vision, strategy and tactical elements for all programs, activities, and educational aspects related to the Children’s Ministry at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. Specifically, the Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for coordinating Sunday School (nursery – 5th grade), Children’s Church, Wednesday Night Activities, Vacation Bible School, and any other children’s activities.

Essential Job Functions
- Leadership and Vision
- Provide leadership to the Children’s Ministry of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
- Work with the Senior Pastor and other staff to ensure the Children’s Ministry operates in a way that promotes the overall vision of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Follow/adhere to Personnel Policy for Ministerial and Office Staff.
- Volunteer Coordination
- Coordinate and communicate with all volunteers for Children’s Ministry events and activities (including Sunday School teachers, Wednesday night teachers, etc.).
- Oversee and work with the Nursery Coordinator to ensure volunteers are available for all nursery activities.
- Parent and Family Engagement
- Foster strong relationships with parents by providing regular communication, updates on ministry activities, and resources for spiritual growth at home.
- Organize family events that encourage involvement and strengthen connections within the church family.
- Outreach
- Plan and lead outreach events that connect with children and families in the local community.
- Nursery and Safety Oversight
- Oversee and implement all safety and security processes for the Children’s Ministry.
Hours, Supervision & Compensation
- The Director of Children’s Ministries shall work approximately 20 hours per week.
- Workdays include Sundays &Wednesdays (paid absence on a Sunday or Wednesday will require the use of a personal day).
- Attend the weekly staff meeting and arrange consistent office hours with the supervisor.
- Expected to lead/participate in additional ministry events as necessary (VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, Candlelight Service, special services at the church, etc.)
- The supervisor must approve any time off (paid or unpaid). The appropriate form must be filled out in the church office for the use of personal days/paid time off.
- Reports to Senior Pastor
- An annual review will be performed by the Senior Pastor alongside the Personnel Committee with copies of the review provided to the staff member, the Personnel Committee, and placed in the staff member’s personnel folder.
- The Personnel Committee will recommend a compensation package to be approved by the Finance Committee.
- The Director of Children’s Ministries will receive an annual salary to be paid in 24 payments (two paychecks monthly).
- The church will provide $50 per month for cell phone reimbursement.
- In addition to salary, the Director of Children’s Ministries will have the vacation benefits outlined in the Personnel Policies by the Personnel Committee at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
