Primary Objective:
To be responsible to assist the Music Director in the development, promotion, and implementation of an effective music ministry.
Responsibilities:
- Play for all worship services, both weekly and special, and provide service music, accompaniment for congregational singing, and accompaniment for choirs, ensembles, and soloists, as requested by the church and/or Music Director.
- Serve as rehearsal accompanist or lead as needed for choirs and ensembles, as requested by the Music Director.
- Play for funerals of church members free of charge, as requested by the church staff and/or families of deceased members. An honorarium offered by the family may be accepted but cannot be required as a condition of service rendered.
- Play for or lead rehearsals of all choirs and ensembles, as requested by the Music Director.
- Assist with coordination of, and either lead or play for children’s choirs, as requested by the Music Director.
- Assist or lead rehearsals and performances of instrumental groups, such as the church orchestra and handbells, as requested by the Music Director.
- Provide accompaniment for singing in church, small groups, meetings, and retreats, as requested by the Music Director.
- Serve as a resource to the Music Director in the development and growth of the music ministry.
- Play for weddings performed at Calvary Baptist Church, as requested. A reasonable fee, the amount subject to approval of the appropriate church committees, may be charged by the music associate.
- Assist in the development of other music associates, organists, and pianists in the church, as requested.
- Maintain a regular practice schedule of at least two hours per week.
- Maintain a regular schedule of personal and professional development.
- Be a practicing evangelical Christian with deeply held beliefs that are consistent with commonly held beliefs of Calvary Baptist Church and Southern Baptists in general.
- Maintain a lifestyle consistent with the teachings of the Bible and the commonly held beliefs of Calvary Baptist Church and Southern Baptists in general.
