Children’s Ministry Director

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church of Fort Payne, AL is seeking a full-time Children’s Ministry Director who will direct and oversee all children’s ministries and who will educate and minister to children and their families in the ministry of the church.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing a comprehensive program of Christian development and education for children in the Nursery Program (birth- 3years) and for children in the Children’s Ministry (Pre-K – 5th grade).
• Developing and overseeing ministries that are creative, exciting, innovative and relevant to the children and families of the church (including weekly activities, summer programming and camps, special events, Vacation Bible School, etc.).
• Directing the nursery and overseeing the schedule of teachers, volunteers, and paid workers to ensure children will be provided with age appropriate education, proper supervision, and nurture during church services and special events.
• Working with the ministry staff to implement FBC’s “Church + Home Discipleship Pathway” and partnering with parents in the ongoing task of raising children to know and serve God.

FBC is seeking a person with the following:
Experience:
• 2+ years of experience working with children in a church ministry setting. Preference is given to those who have served in a leadership capacity.

Ministry skills:
• Biblical knowledge and the ability to apply it in ministry to children
• Strong communication skills suited for teaching children and making disciples
• Ability to organize/plan/coordinate on-going children’s ministry events and communicate well with
children, parents, and volunteers
• Ability to provide strong and nurturing direction for children in the ministry and clear and concise
leadership for their parents and children’s ministry volunteers
• Forward-looking leadership and the ability to create and implement new opportunities for ministry to
children, their families, and the community.

• Healthy relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by spiritual maturity and consistent personal discipleship
• Relatable, warm, nurturing, and kind toward children and families
• Trustworthiness and integrity for working with children and giving families an example to follow
• Enthusiasm for being a minister of the gospel and joy in working with children

Education:
• Relevant experience, aptitude, and character are the primary sought after qualifications for the position. A
4-year degree from a university/Bible college in a relevant degree program is considered a plus.

FBC is a multi-generational church in Fort Payne, AL. The FBC Children’s Ministry is designed to support children and families on their faith journeys and particularly, for kids to know Jesus and to make Jesus known.
