Position: Minister/Director of Children
Relationship with Jesus Christ and passion to facilitate children’s growth in their relationship with God. Embrace and promote Mission of FBC: Reach People and Make Disciples. BS/BA plus graduate work from seminary or relevant experience within ministry program. Experience with social media to market and promote ministry. Positive interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; be self-motivated to excel within team culture.
Seek EXCELLENCE while leading enthusiastic Children’s ministry to point young people to Christ. Ages of responsibility include grades first (1st) through sixth (6th).
Expectations of the Position:
• Ambassador for the Children’s program to:
o Meet and greet students/parents prior to and after services.
o Engage in area schools to develop partnerships within the community.
o Local churches and organizations to minister to children within community.
• Organize and lead:
o Sunday program (SS/Children’s worship), Wednesday Bible study, and special programs/activities as needed.
o In-reach/outreach events to grow ministry through camps, missions and day trips.
o Recruitment and training of teachers and ministry volunteers.
• Develop avenues to ensure children/parents are informed of activities.
• Connect with parents through dialogue and exchange of correspondence.
• Contact prospects/guests weekly.
• Be informed and seek involvement in lives of children on a regular basis.
• Provide parenting resources, Bible studies and fellowship opportunities.
Leadership: Demonstrate Christian lifestyle and serve as mentor to children. Give direction to and be involved in a pastoral care for persons involved in children’s ministry of church.
Relationships: Reports to Discipleship Pastor. May supervise associates, interns, and volunteer leaders.
Schedule: Full-time position requires a minimum forty-hour week, subject to requirements of ministry. Sunday is a workday. Under normal circumstances, subject to ministry obligations, Friday is designated as a day off in lieu of Sunday.
