Canaan Baptist Church

Canaan Baptist Church is seeking a part time Administrative Assistant to join our team serving in our multigenerational church located in Bessemer, Alabama. Canaan strives to know Christ and make Him known and we are looking for someone that desires this in their life as well.

Qualifications
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient in Mac OS, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Planning Center and Google Docs
Must be able to be trusted with confidential information
Ability to operate telephone systems, copy machine, and learn new software applications as needed.
Must be in agreement with Canaan Baptist's doctrinal statement of beliefs

Responsibilities
Perform clerical and some administrative functions in order to assist the pastoral staff in accomplishing the goals and vision of the church
Draft correspondence and other documents (including but not limited to weekly newsletter, Sunday bulletin and social media post)
Schedule appointments and manage church calendar
Greet and assist onsite guests in a polite and courteous manner
Answer inbound telephone calls; take messages and assist callers as needed.
Monitor and manage church email account
Maintain organized filing systems
Manage, maintain, and restock church supplies
Handle church errands as necessary
Pick up, sort, and distribute mail and other deliveries to the appropriate staff.
Perform any other office tasks deemed necessary by the Lead Pastor

Monday – Wednesday
8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m.
