#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It kicks off the charitable giving season when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

We at your State Board of Missions would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the impact your tithes and offerings, given through your Alabama Baptist church, have as they are used through the Cooperative Program to support many ministries.

For instance, in 2017 Alabama Baptists:

  • supported more than 7,800 missionaries around the world.
  • exposed more than 44,000 college students to the Gospel through Alabama Baptist Campus Ministries events and groups.
  • set the pace for dollars given among state conventions.
  • gave the largest per capita gift of any state convention.

In addition, gifts given each year to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering provide assistance in the strategic areas of Alabama WMU, Disaster Relief, Church Planting, Partnerships Missions, and Church Revitalization.

State Missions

Giving Tuesday 9

Your support of state missions includes the areas of Evangelism & Discipleship, Leadership Resources, and Missions Mobilization along with the many ministries under each of these umbrellas.

In addition, your gifts help support multiple state convention entities, auxiliaries, boards and commissions including Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, Alabama Baptist Retirement Centers, The Baptist Foundation of Alabama, Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center, Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union, The Alabama Baptist, University of Mobile and Judson College.

Alabama recently achieved 50/50 status with the Southern Baptist Convention, which means 50% of the money given through the Cooperative Program stays in Alabama, while the other 50% goes to support the following ministries:

North American Missions

Giving Tuesday 10

The Cooperative Program supports North American missions work including church planting, evangelism and chaplaincy.

International Missions

Giving Tuesday 11

The Cooperative Program supports international missionaries serving throughout the world.

Seminaries

Giving Tuesday 12

The Cooperative Program provides support to our six Southern Baptist seminaries. Your giving helps educate future pastors, ministry leaders and missionaries throughout the SBC.

Other Ministries

Your gifts also support the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the work of GuideStone.

However you choose to participate in #GivingTuesday this year, know that your gifts through the Cooperative Program and to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering are used throughout the year to fuel Great Commission Ministries and make a difference for Christ in Alabama, across the U.S. and around the world. Thank you for your sacrificial giving!
