Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers have risen to the occasion to serve those affected by recent floods in Missouri and Arkansas. Two teams served in Missouri earlier this month.
Last week 5 teams prepared to go to Missouri and assist. Because of the efforts of many volunteers, Missouri was able to see a significant reduction in the jobs to be completed. They, with gratitude, stood down our teams.
At the same time, Arkansas still had jobs that needed finishing. Two of the five teams, West Cullman and Tuskegee-Lee Associations, are serving this week.
That means that three of those teams that had prepared to serve did not get to do so. Baldwin, Colbert-Lauderdale, and Etowah Associations had teams ready to go but were no longer needed. One can imagine the disappointment for them. They know, however, that Disaster Relief is a rapidly changing ministry.
Alabama Baptists are grateful for these volunteers and all who are committed to providing hope and help in Jesus’ name.
